David Porter | Chairman of the Board
David began his career in civil engineering in 1973 and since then has gained a wealth of experience across every facet of civil engineering and building projects.
He has co-ordinated multiple major land developments throughout Perth and its surrounds and has played a primary role in some of Western Australia’s largest regional planning studies in Rockingham, Bunbury, Kwinana, the Avon Arc, Geraldton and Manjimup.
David has also co-ordinated the WA civil engineering services for regional and district shopping centre developments at Rockingham City, The Galleria and Whitfords City and infill sewerage projects at Cannington and Lancelin.
His highly successful track record in the development, co-ordination and management of civil and infrastructure planning in land development engineering in WA, as well as project and asset management and the administration of a multi-disciplined consulting engineering practice, means David is one of the most knowledgeable, respected and expert civil engineers in Perth.
David holds a Diploma of Civil Engineering, Associateship of Civil Engineering, Graduate Diploma of Engineering, Graduate Diploma of Business, a Municipal Engineers Certificate, is a registered Chartered Professional Engineer, is on the National Professional Engineers Register (NPER) and an accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor.
His professional memberships include Fellow, Institution of Engineers Australia; Fellow, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia; Member, Australian Water Association; and Member, Australian Institute of Project Management. David is a Trustee of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Western Australia Foundation and a past Chairman and Life Member of Consult Australia.
Brad Harris | Managing Director
Brad joined Porter Consulting Engineers in June 2006 after gaining a wealth of experience and has more than 21 years in municipal and land development engineering, design and project management. Previously Brad has held the position of Manager, Technical Services with the City of Gosnells and prior to that, was the Civic Design Manager at the City of Melville.
His technical experience is extensive and includes: design and contract administration of land development projects; asset management for roads, paths and bridges; road safety; road funding applications; management and design of large scale road projects; overseeing civil design, horticultural design, transport planning and surveys.
The major projects Brad has been involved in include the Kelvin Road duplication; Gosnells Town Centre redevelopment; Maddington/Kenwick revitalisation; North Lake Road dual carriageway; Bicton Jetty redevelopment; Lakeway Drive-In re-development and Mirrabooka re-development.
In 2010 Brad was awarded the IPWEA GK Watters Local Government Engineering Excellence Award for his work on the Lakeway Drive-In redevelopment for the Town of Claremont.
Brad holds a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) from the University of Western Australia and is an accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor. His professional affiliations and representations include: Fellow, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA); Past Convenor, IPWEA Road Safety Panel; and Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Shane Highman | Director Development
Having joined Porter Consulting Engineers in 1997, Shane is a civil engineer with specific responsibility for the developing of roads, earthworks and retaining, stormwater drainage, sewer and water reticulation for civil engineering and land development projects, undertake traffic assessments and analysis and project control.
Shane’s involvement in urban, rural and industrial land developments and municipal works throughout Western Australia includes developments in Wanneroo, Swanbourne, Armadale, Cockburn, Fremantle, Mandurah, Albany, Margaret River, Ravensthorpe and Broome.
Significant projects include North Link Industrial Park, Cockburn South Central and Westfield Road Estate, Seville Grove.
Shane holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Construction – Upper Second Class Honours) and Diploma of Civil Engineering. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer on the National Engineering Register (NER), a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a member of the Water Corporation UDAC technical committee.
Evan Williams | Director Traffic and Transport
Evan joined Porter Consulting Engineers in July 2007 and has over 30 years’ experience working in civil and traffic engineering disciplines in WA Local Government and consulting. His wide-ranging experience includes major and local road design engineering, traffic management, road safety engineering, public transport, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. He has provided advice to local government Councils on traffic issues relating to land subdivisions in WA, property developments and road networks.
Evan is a Senior Road Safety Auditor in Perth and an active member on the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Road Safety Panel assisting in the promotion, training and accreditation of Road Safety Auditors in Western Australia.
Within his area of specialisation his experience has included investigation, design and administration of traffic related civil infrastructure projects, investigation and development of road safety improvement projects; advice and reporting on traffic related issues; and administration of civil engineering design teams.
Evan had previously held the position of traffic design engineer at the City of Stirling for 11 years, Design Engineer with the City of Mandurah for 4 years and Design Services Engineer with the City of Belmont for 7 years.
Evan has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Curtin University. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer on the National Engineering Register (NER), a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia, a Fellow of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia and an Accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor.
Jennie Hopfmueller | Senior Traffic Engineer
Jennie is a Traffic and Transport Engineer with over 20 years experience working in traffic and transportation engineering disciplines with private consultants. Jennie joined Porter Consulting Engineers in late 2017 and her wide experience includes traffic impact assessments, intersection capacity analysis using SIDRA, traffic input into structure plans and local area traffic management.
Jennie has provided advice to WA Local Government and private developers on traffic issues relating to land subdivisions, property developments, road networks and road safety.
Within her area of specialisation, Jennie’s experience with projects has included traffic signal design, detailed design of intersections/interchanges as well as parking, pedestrian and cycling studies. Jennie’s exposure to both planning and detailed design of road infrastructure projects gives her an appreciation of traffic management issues and the appropriate experience to apply this to practical design and construction solutions.
Jennie has been an accredited, practising Senior Road Safety Auditor since 2010 and has undertaken numerous road safety audits offering her traffic engineering and road design experience to improve safety for all road users.
Jennie holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil – Honours) from Curtin University and is a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Michael Cook | Senior Civil Engineer
Michael joined Porter Consulting Engineers in late 2015 as a Senior Civil Engineer and has over 15 years’ experience working in civil engineering.
Prior to joining Porter Consulting Engineers, Michael was working as a Senior Project Engineer on a variety of commercial and residential subdivisions, specialising in land development engineering design, documentation and supervising construction activities.
Michael is an experienced Project Manager and is responsible for project delivery, design and contract administration of local road projects and subdivisions.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Construction – Honours) and a Diploma of Project Management. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer on the National Engineering Register (NER) and a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Jamie King | Project Engineer
Jamie joined Porter Consulting Engineers in early 2012 as a Civil Construction Engineer and was promoted to Project Engineer in May 2017 . Prior to joining the Practice, Jamie worked for the City of Armadale as a Subdivision Engineer working on a variety of commercial and residential subdivisions, assessing engineering designs and supervising construction activities.
Jamie has gained a wide range of experience since joining Porter Consulting Engineers particularly in the area of Construction and Land Development. Jamie’s main responsibilities include design and documentation input (concept to detailed design), contract administration, facilitation of construction site meetings and undertaking construction site surveillance check of various development projects. Jamie prepares and reviews construction costings and assists with preparation of feasibility and servicing reports.
Jamie holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Structural – Honours) and is a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
