The Amble Estate wins two UDIA Awards in 2019

The Amble in Girrawheen was recently selected as the winners of both the Excellence in Residential Development (250 lots or fewer) Award and the Environmental Excellence Award at the 2019 Urban Development Institute of Australia WA Awards for Excellence evening.  Porter Consulting Engineers were proud to be involved as the Project Engineer for the redevelopment and transformation of the 4.2 hectare former Hainsworth Primary School site in Girrawheen.

The Amble is a new 129-lot residential community which has been developed with a focus on high-quality, affordable and diverse housing options. Delivered by the Department of Communities in partnership with Yolk Property Group (YPG) and Ventura Home Group (VHG), The Amble is the first green titled subdivision in Western Australia to provide a solar power system with every home.

It was an exciting project to be involved with, as our Practice was provided opportunities to work with a pro-active Developer with a clear vision of their Built Form end product. This greatly assisted the engineering design process, knowing the type of end user requirements from the outset, as it enabled us to work with the existing landforms and upgrade existing interfacing public infrastructure with minimal disruption.

The team at Porter Consulting Engineers were engaged to prepare the required engineering designs, investigations, reports, tender process and construction contract administration. We commenced designs including the Public Open Space basin in mid-2017 with the third and final stage was completed in May 2019. The design works took into account existing frontages and interfaces with existing properties, as well as considered retention of existing mature trees and site topography.

Congratulations to the Department and the entire project team on this outstanding urban infill project development in the northern corridor and located only 15km from the Perth CBD.
