Southern Link Rd, Cannington- Stage 2 now open

Porter Consulting Engineers has been working with the City of Canning to provide the City with road design and traffic / civil engineering input to this new road in Cannington.  As part of the City’s Canning City Centre Regeneration program the construction of this new road link called Southern Link Road will ultimately extend eastward from Liege Street at the Grose Avenue intersection to connect with Gerard Street at the Lake Street intersection.

Stage one of Southern Link Road comprised of upgrading the single lane roundabout at the intersection of Liege Street/Grose Avenue to a dual-lane roundabout. Construction of the dual-lane roundabout upgrade work was completed in January 2017.

Stage two of Southern Link Road is the construction of the new road link from Grose Avenue to Grey Street and this work is nearing completion with the new road link opened on 31 October 2019.  Drainage, road pavement, surfacing, kerbing and street lighting has been completed along with finishing works including the median, topsoil and footpath.

The new road link is expected to provide a safer route for motorists in and around the area adjacent to Bunnings, Greyhounds WA, Baseball WA and the southern access points to Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre. It also accommodates improvements for cycling and pedestrians from the surrounding residential areas.

PCE was pleased to be involved in the project that is helping improve traffic movements in the growing Canning City Centre precinct.
